Jewell Marie Moody, 87, of Shawnee, went to heaven on Monday, March 15, 2010. She was born October 8, 1922 to Palmer and Lola Edith (Burris) Case in Marlow, Oklahoma. She attended school at Pink & Knowls. She married the love of her life, Hugh LaVern Moody on September 5, 1942 at the Cleveland County Courthouse in Norman. They were married for 65 years until his death in October 2007. They lived in Norman, OK and Ventura, CA during WWII while Hugh was in the Navy. They returned to Oklahoma City after the war to be close to their families. Their only child, daughter Jo Beth Moody was born in 1951. Hugh himself built their home at 2537 SW 31st, where they lived for 50 years. Jewell attended beauty school and was a beautician at Eda Phillips Beauty Shop on SW 30th in Okla. City in the 1950's. She also worked as a sales person, switchboard operator, and in the business office at John A. Brown and Dillard's from 1970 to 1973. She and Hugh moved to Shawnee in 1996 to their retirement home on 5 acres in the country. They enjoyed their acreage, trees, sunsets and birds. Jewell loved her family, cooking, crocheting and playing Scrabble. She loved little children everywhere. She attended church at SW 31st Church of God in Okla. City for 14 years, Grace Assembly of God in SW Okla. City for 31 years, and while living in Shawnee she attended the Glad Tidings Assembly of God, and Bible Baptist Church, as well as the First Assembly of God in Tecumseh. In the 2 ½ years since Hugh passed away she enjoyed the Gospel Singing, country and western music, and making friends at the Shawnee Senior Center. She loved the Senior Center and they loved her. She also attended the gospel singing at Legacy Park and Bible Baptist Church. She loved eating out. Her last years were made immeasurably better by her wonderful companions Martha Hester, Pat Love, and Sandra Hock. They too became her family.

Mrs. Moody is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Jo Beth Moody and Wilson Walthall of Dallas; brother & sister-in-law, Don & Betty Case of Shawnee; nephews: Floyd Hooley & Floyd Bennett, Kent Washburn & Frankie Hale; nieces: Glenda Bemis, Margaret Rood, Vicki Case, Lavern Moore & Pat Pace and numerous others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hugh Moody, her brother Dee Case, her sisters: Alice Hale and Thelma Landry; a niece: Cindy Case; and her good friend, Mandy Williams.
