Crossville Chronicle June 15, 1950

Funeral services for Clark Choate, 67, who died at his home in Helena, TN on June 1, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 4 at the Helene Baptist church.
Mr Choate had been in ill health for some time. He suffered a light stroke last November. His death was due to a heart attack.
Rev Lee of Jamestown conducted the services; burial was in the church cemetery.
At the time of his death, he was Tax Assessor of Fentress County, having served 10 years. He was also a former school teacher, with 34 years of service.
Mr Choate was a member of the Methodist church of Little Crab, having become a Christian early in life, and had been a teacher in the adult department for some time. He was a splendid citizen and will be missed very much in his fine work.
He was married to Miss Mary Reynolds of Jamestown, who survives him, on April 25, 1909. 11 children survive, 6 sons and 5 daughters: Arney, Crossville and Chattanooga; Edward, Helena; Elmer, Murfreesboro; Elbert, Knoxville; Truman, Dayton, Oh; Charles, Helena; Mrs Ellen Bowman, Dayton, Oh; Mrs Jewell Richardson, South Lyon, Mi; Mrs Delta Pennicuff, Jamestown; Mrs Lela Range, Knoxville; Miss Joanna Aline Choate, Helena. A daughter, Wilma Ruth, preceded him in death several years ago.
He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; his sister, Mrs Alice Allred, Manson.
