Snider, Ill., Jan. 12: Again the grim monster, Death, has invaded our vicinity. This time in his majestic power, claimed for his own Mrs. Lucy Fairchild, the venerable widow of the Rev. Daniel Fairchild. Aunt Lucy was born in New York, April 27, 1812, and died at her home one and one-half miles northwest of here Jan. 10, 1891, being 78 years, 8 months, 12 days old, and was buried at the Fairchild Cemetery Jan. 12, 1891, 12 o'clock noon.
Harper Daniels of your city was the undertaker. The pall bearers were Rev. Geo. Dodson, A.J. Sinkhorn, G.W. Hoskins, G.W. Beaver, W.J. Warner, and Wm. P Snoot. The services held at the house by Rev. J.A. Hardenbrook were short, consisting of Scripture reading and prayer, and a few words of sympathy to the relatives of the deceased.
She was married to the Rev. Daniel Fairchild October 10, 1830 and has been a widow for more than 30 years. She was the mother of 13 children. She enjoyed herself working for her master.
A large concourse of people assembled to pay the last sad tribute to the departed Mother in Israel. She looked as nearly natural as could be expected, having been sick since September. In her hands were held a beautiful Calla Lily and on the casket was placed a crown and cross. During her illness, she expressed her willingness to go if her Master willed.
