Monica Elizabeth Kelly, 54 from Metolius, OR, died January 29, 2009, of heart failure and other complications at Mountian View Hospital in Madras, OR. There was a viewing on Thursday, 5th and will today, Friday, the 6th. There will also be a Cryptside service in Greenwood Cemetery, Bend, OR, with Rev. Howard Hiembuch officiating on Monday, January 9th at 2:00 PM.

Monica was born January 21, 1955 to Larry and Patricia (Pat) Bennett in Madison, Indiana.

After completing schooling she married and had one son. She divorced, joined the WAC's (Army) and spent four years in Germany. Her mother raised her son during that time.

She returned stateside and was released from Army duties with high honors. Soon, she and a friend headed for the Oregon valley to start a worm farm. She decided to leave a properous worm farm and moved to Bend about 1979. She worked as a bookkeeper for a local electric motor business. She quit the bookkeeping and started caring for the elderly, while also attending Fagons beauty college. She stopped caring for the elderly and started sharing a house with Don C. Foster. During the following years she worked at several local hair salons. Later, she had three small salons of her own. After 17 or so years she built her own full-sevice salon in the south end of Bend, OR. Her salon (La' Salon) was doing very well, but after few months she was forced to give up the salon business because of a back injury.

Monica then married William Kelly, moved to the Salem area for about three years but because of their health problems they moved back with Don Foster in Metolius. William moved to the Utah area to start a new business while Monica waited in Metolius.

She is survived by her husband, William Kelly, one sister, Mischell Bennett of Madison, Indiana, A brother Steven Bennett of Madison, Indiana, a son, Shawn Barnes of Madison and two grandsons, Alex and Noah also of Madison, Indiana
