Herman was the husband of Lillian Allman Eichman, whom he married on June 26, 1915. He was the son of William Eichman and Anna Daun (Donne, Dunn) Eichman. They had two children, Lloyd and Beverly Eichman Addison. Herman was a Detroit Tigers fan his entire life. He played semi-professional ball and had an opportunity to try out with the Tigers, but turned it down to chose the secure tool & dye occupation because he loved his family. He worked at Detroit Brass and Malleable Works.
