Evelyn Carol Renwick was born on August 15, 1913 at Sumner, Iowa the daughter of Walter and Bertha (Smith) Renwick. She graduated from Randalia High School at Randalia, Iowa in 1931. Evelyn married Dean N. Merrill on August 15, 1934 at Randalia, Iowa. She was a clerk at the Meyer-Lincoln True Value Hardware Store in Oelwein for 25 years. Evelyn was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
