CARL, MARY ANN NORTON (1936)
Mary Ann Norton was born in Crown Point, Indiana, July 22, 1845 and died at Topeka, Kansas, August 22, 1936 at the age of 91 years and 1 month.
Her early life was spent in the vicinity of Crown Point. On May 21, 1866, she was married to Nathaniel S. Carl, in Valparaiso, Indiana, who preceded her in death on January 11, 1927. To this union were born seven children, one son, Harry dying in infancy.
In the fall of 1884 they moved from Wyanet, Illinois, to Onaga, Kansas, where they lived until Mr. Carl's death after which she made her home in Topeka with her daughter, Mrs. Wasson.
She leaves to mourn her death, the following children: Mrs. Effa G. Irish, Santa Ana, CA; Calvin C. Carl, Council Grove, KS; Mrs. Nell Groomer, Manhattan, KS; Mrs. Hattie Wasson, Topeka, KS; Earl M. Carl, Grants Pass, OR; and Ernest C. Carl, Onaga; twenty three grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the Federated church Sunday afternoon in charge of Dr. Thomas C. Hinkle. Burial was in the Onaga Cemetery.
