Sudden Death of
Mrs. J. McCullough
Mrs. Hannah Lena McCullough, wife of James McCullough of Aldersyde, who died suddenly at her home on March 14, leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, one daughter Ethel of Stettler, and three sons, Hugh of Turner Valley; Harry of Arrowwood and Frank of Aldersyde. Two grandsons, Allan and Bruce of Turner Valley; one sister and four brothers also survive. They are Mrs. J. Schweitzer of Elmira, Ontario, Ephriam Bricker of Milden, Sask; Amsy of Calgary; Washington of Kitchener and Arthur of Elmira.
Mrs. McCullough was born in Hawkesville, Ontario, in 1879, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Bricker and a niece of the late E. W. Bricker. In 1906 she married James McCullough and came west to reside on the homestead near Aldersyde. Pioneer life offered its share of obstacles but her determination in overcoming these was a deciding factor in establishing a Christian home. Her quiet unassuming sincere manner won for her the admiration and respect of a wide circle of friends. Outside her home she maintained keen interest in community activities which promoted happiness and progress. But it may be truly said that her life centred round her family. She gained profound happiness from watching the progress of that family under her kindly and sympathic understanding.
She was a member of the High River Pioneer's Association, a member of the Aldersyde United Church, and a member of the Aldersyde W.M.S.
"God called her from her earthly labors, but her kindness sincerity and good deeds will remain in the memory of everyone."
Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at the United Church, High River, with Rev. F. Samis of Okotoks and Rev. I. Miller officiating. The large attendance of sympathizing friends and the beautiful floral tributes showed the high esteem in which Mrs. McCullough was held by all who knew her.
