The venerable Malinda Dresslar near Salem, was given a surprise a short time since that was well merited. It was given on the occasion of her seventy-sixth birthday. She was born in Virginia, Aug. 16, 1807; moved to Indiana over fifty years ago and settled in the western edge of Johnson county, near Salem church, in which community she has ever since resided. Her husband, Geo. Dresslar, went to meet the reward of a consistent Christian over twenty-five years ago. This being the seventy-sixth anniversary of her birth, according to previous arrangements the friends and relatives, to the number of seventy, congregated with filled baskets and spirits light, to enliven and cheer her in her journey through life, which according to nature is almost completed.
