Many researchers believe that her middle name is "Tabitha;" however, her granddaughter has reported that it is actually "Tiritha."

There is no document showing who her father was, born March 1837, she went by Carroll 1840 with her mother was Carroll child, her family also gave she was Carroll, before she married. There is no marriage license to Miller. Place of birth NC, her son marriage license gave Wilkes County, I never found any proof of that. Matilda's mother Nancy Ivins/Evans Carroll and husband Alfred Carroll members of the Antioch Baptist Church at Blackburg York Co SC Jul 1829-Dec 1831 family Search film #00826440, . March 1834 Alfred Carroll divorced Nancy Carroll, Hall County Georgia. Never found Alfred again or any record for Nancy until census 1840 Gilmer Co GA. Matilda Carroll Miller 1st born Eliza Miller born Tenn 1854. Nancy Carroll married Curtis Lard Apr. 1846 Gilmer Co GA.
About Joseph Charles Carroll who people keep adding as her father. No documents for this. He died 28 Jul 1838, abt age 80? He had a will naming wife Elizabeth son Minor. His home had been on Allison Creek York SC, land deeds. He is buried in Betel Presbyterian Church Clover York SC, 13 miles distance from Allison Ck. Joseph Carroll never belonged to the Antioch Baptist Church which Nancy Carroll was a member, she lived in NC on Buffalo Creek above Grover. I read all court documents of York Co SC for this time period, nothing about him being murdered as some have passed around.
If anyone has DNA proof that Joseph C Carroll was Matilda Carroll Miller's father please contact me to compare, she was my husbands great-g-father Henry Ledbetter Carroll b. 1831, sister, his father was Alred Carroll DNA proof .
