Charles Davis "Charlie" Tillman was a pioneer of southern gospel music. He was a performer, wrote some one hundred songs and a publisher of twenty-two gospel song books.

Just to mention a few of his songs he wrote were "Old Time Religion", "My Mother's Bible", "Ready" and "When I Get to the End of the Way."

He was memorialized in the Southern Gospel Museum and Hall of Fame and was among the first to be included into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

The inscription on this tombstone, "Life's Railway to Heaven."
