U.S. Army Air Corps, United States Senator Idaho 1948-1956. He was a strong supporter of the right wing of the Republican party, he was also a close associate of Senator Joseph McCarty. In 1954 he was McCarty's chief defender in the debate which led to McCarthy's censure by the Senate. Herman Welker is best remembered for his relentless fight against communism.
