Rev. Eli Hamblet Buried.
Remains of Pioneer Minister of City are laid to rest
The body of the Rev. Eli Hamblet was buried yesterday, afternoon from Butterworth & Sons’ chapel. The services were widely attended, many well-known ministers of the city being present. Internment was made at Mount Pleasant, the body being buried beside that of Mrs. Hamblet, who died last summer.
Mr. Hamblet was one of the first ministers of the gospel to come to the Sound. He was in California in 1849. He later came to this part of the country and was a missionary among the Indians. He moved to Ballard twenty-one years ago and in the early days was active in the work now done by the Salvation Army in Seattle.
