Flora was born on Aug. 22, 1930, in Tennyson, Wis., daughter of William and Bertha (Hinderman) Morgan. She married John "Jack" Beecher on June 2, 1952, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dubuque; he preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1967.
She worked at the former Farley and Loetscher Company, at Target, and at Beecher's Ice Cream Shop. However, her real devotion in life was raising her six children. She served as a den leader for the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Flora was a member of Resurrection parish.
Her favorite pastimes were playing cards and board games. She was known to have a very inventive and winning Scrabble vocabulary. "Grandma Kitty," as she was known to her grandchildren, was also an accomplished painter. Her painted sleds were things of beauty.
Surviving are sons, Duane (JoAnne) and John (Claudia), both of Dubuque, Mike (Connie), Sedalia, Mo., Marty (Sandy), Okinawa, Japan, and Joe (Vicki), Oskaloosa, Iowa; a daughter, Chris (Tom) Baron, Joliet, Ill.; grandchildren, Tim (Molly), Jeff, Andy (Jen), Ed Beecher and Mary and Cole Beecher, all of Dubuque, Jonathan Beecher, Sedalia, Mo., Jennifer (Justin) Hubbs, Fremont, Neb., Kara (Josh) Weishaar, Coralville, Iowa, Katie and Josie Beecher, Oskaloosa, Mitchell and Bobby Baron, Joliet, and Matt, Meagan, Morgan, Madison, Michelle, Melody, and Molly Beecher of Okinawa; great-grandchildren Evan, Emily, Allison, Sam, Bailey, Madeline and Norah; and sisters, Dorothy Montag and Velma Jean VanOstrand, both of Dubuque.
