In 1937, he moved with his family to North Platte and worked on the Kingsley Dam project before entering the U.S.
Air Force in 1942.
He married Margie F. Sipes on Jan.1,1945, at Ardmore Okla. They lived in Wilson Okla., where he was foreman for the Dodge and Plymouth Company.
Mr. Cooper reentered the Air Force in 1951 and after his discharge in 1953, moved to North Platte. He worked for Joe Dye Ford in the shop and for Bill Hemming Lincoln-Mercury in the shops at North Platte and Sutherland which he operated for 25 years before moving it to North Platte in 1985. He retired in 1989.
He was a past member of the VFW and Sutherland American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Margie of North Platte; two sons, Gary Dale (Cindy) and Larry Dean (Jody) both of North Platte; two daughters, Sharon Kay Pendleton of North Platte and Debra Ann (Harry) Peffer of Lewistown, Pa.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were a brother, Floyd Laverne, and a sister, Elsie May Whittaker.
