The Rev. Verdean Gwendolyn LeRoy, 86, died May 7 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. She was born Oct. 16, 1923, at Great Bend, the daughter of John S. and Verna V. (Smith) Fisher. She grew up in Great Bend and lived in Kansas and California. She married Jack Henry LeRoy on Sept. 5, 1942, at Los Angeles, Calif. He died June 24, 1997. She pastored River of Life Four-Square Church as an ordained minister with her husband, the Rev. Jack LeRoy, and was a homemaker, being the mother of four daughters and three sons. Mrs. LeRoy was a Great Bend resident since 1980, coming from La Puente, Calif.
She was a member of River of Life Four-Square Church, Great Bend.
Survivors include three sons, John C. LeRoy of Azusa, Calif., and David LeRoy and Robert LeRoy, both of Great Bend; three daughters, Verdean Palmer and Theresa LeRoy of Great Bend and Marilyn Ramirez of Apple Valley, Calif.; two sisters, Dolores Rusco of Great Bend and Doreen Powell of Honolulu, Hawaii; 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, René Croucn and Jeannean LeRoy, and one great-grandson, Kain Caron.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at River of Life Four-Square Gospel Church, Great Bend, with the Rev. John LeRoy and Pastor David LeRoy officiants. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend.
