Our sweet mother, Ellen Beth Sellers Ray, 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of May 7, 2010 at the home of her son, Kelly Ray. She resided at 3508 South 50 West in Bountiful, Utah at the time of her death.

Beth was a very caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister and a wonderful friend to many. She had three children who she loved dearly, Barbara Ann Ray Jones (Gene), George "Kelly" Ray, Jr. (Cheryl), and "Ellen" Beth Ray (Jack).

She loved to play games with her family and she loved to laugh. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, word search, and could put little tiny piece and very complicated puzzles together. Even at the age of 87, her eye sight was terrific and she had no problem reading and working with her hands.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served an honorable mission with her eternal companion, George Kelly Ray, Sr., in San Antonio, Texas.

Beth was born to Golda Fuller and Byron Beckstead Sellers on February 26, 1923 in Woods Cross, Utah.

She married George Kelly Ray, Sr., in Bountiful on August 3, 1940 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on November 18, 1954.

Beth grew up in Bountiful, Utah around her family and loved spending time with her sisters, Dee Sellers Birdsall and Betty Sellers Mugleston, and her brothers Brig Sellers, Don Sellers, and Ronnie Lee Sellers. She was the big sister and they all looked up to her.

In her youth, she proudly worked on the family farm and during the depression, her and her family always had food on their table. Beth often talked of her wonderful childhood, about riding horses and taking the train to school at Davis High. She loved her Grandma Fuller, known as blind grandma to the family. She would tell stories to her kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren about "blind grandma" and her childhood memories on the farm with her mother, father, brothers, and sisters.

She adored her grandchildren, Todd Jones, Brett Jones, Danny Jones (Terry), Christy Jones Clark (Shawn), Heather Ann Ray Swanger (Shane) Christopher D. (Bo) Ray (Cassandra), Casey Kelly Ray, Jayme Lynn Texeira Garn (Steve), and Jonathan Ray Texeira.

Between these nine grandchildren, she received the great joy of sixteen great-grandchildren where she was given the nickname of "Great" which was a honorable name for a great person. She had hours of fun with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they all brought her comfort and happiness.

She was preceded in death by her husband George, her mother and father, Byron and Golda, her sister Betty, her sister Dee, and her brother Don. She was very saddened when she lost her grandson, Casey Kelly Ray, on May 31, 1999, who she was very close to and the reunion she is having at this time with all of her loved ones gives comfort to her family still living. She will be missed by all who knew her as she was the only matriarch of our family.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 in the North Canyon Second Ward Chapel, 3350 South 100 East, Bountiful. She will be honored at a viewing on Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, and Tuesday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the Church prior to the services.
She will be laid to rest in the Bountiful Memorial Park Cemetery next to her eternal companion George Kelly Ray, Sr., and her grandson, Casey Kelly Ray.
