He lead an adventurous life that began January 2, 1917, in an orchard above Hood River, Ore. He was born, the youngest of a brother (Ross) and two sisters (Dorothy Collie and Janet Axford), to Winfred Ross Collie and Genevieve Alice Peck Collie.
He is an alumnus of Oregon State University.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Elizabeth Fitzpatrick Collie, July 26, 1995, and daughter, Karen Jane Collie, Sept. 13, 2007.
He is survived by his sons, Michael Ross Collie and his wife, Judy Warren Collie, of Carson City, and Joseph Patrick Collie and his wife, Gail Frey Collie, of San Jose, California; a sister-in-law, Billie Fitzpatrick Balsiger, of Klamath Falls, Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. May 24, 2010, at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore., for family and close friends.
Autumn Funerals and Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, it was his request that contributions be made to Vista Care (hospice), 1625 East Prater Way, Building C, Suite 108, Sparks, NV 89434, or a charity of your choice.
