George "Bud" Burnison, 78, was a son of Forrest and Maude Duncan Burnison. He married Mary Margaret Mersereau on February 12, 1956 in Rantoul, Illinois. She survives.

Also surviving are his two sons, David (Karen), Normal, and Douglas, Rantoul; two granddaughters, Ashley and Erin; two sisters, Barbara and Judy and a sister-in-law, Doris.

He served in the U.S. Army for 23 years, including two tours of duty as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He retired as a lieutenant colonel.
