CARL ALGOT BLOMSTEDT came to Hutto, Texas in 1887 from Motala, Sweden, where he was born in 1862. In the old country, he worked both as a farmer and as a factory worker at the Motala Factory. His father, Carl Johan Blom, was a factory worker. In this country, Blomstedt was a farmer at all times. At first he leased land, but as early as 1892, he bought his own farm, consisting of 232 acres in Palm Valley. It was all prairie, and it was up to Blomstedt to break land and become a pioneer, even though he does not belong to the early settlers. In 1914, he sold that farm and bought 560 acres in the Swedish settlement, Kenedy, Texas. He is already settled there and is one of the leading men in that community. He takes an active role in community affairs, belongs to the Lutheran Church in Palm Valley with his family, and Blomstedt is now among the most active members in the Lutheran Church in Kenedy.
He has been married to Anna Johnson since 1898. She is the daughter of Johan Israelson in Brushy, and widow of Andrew Johnson. She was born in Palm Valley in 1872. With Mr. Johnson, she had Lewis in 1892 and Lilly in 1895. The Blomstedts have: Algotina, 1899, Gustav, 1902, and Hanna, 1907.
