His obituary as it appeared in the newspaper at time of his death: CANTON - Thomas J. Harkins, 91, a retired farmer, died Sunday afternoon at home in the Morning Star section after a lingering illness.
A native of Georgia, he had resided in Haywood County most of his life.
Surviving are three sons, M.C., T.K. and G.M. all of Canton; three daughters, Mrs. Pink Welch of Candler, Mrs. Minnie Davis of Canton, and Mrs. Leland Culbertson of Leicester; one brother, John of Dillard, GA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the Morning Star Methodist Church.
Wells Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
