George Ennis McCachren 88, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on May 31, 2008 at the Levine-Dickson Hospice in Huntersville. He was born on August 25, 1919 in Charlotte, a son of the late Roland and Jonsie Downs McCachren.

George was a graduate of Central High School and UNC Chapel Hill, Class of '39. He served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps. He retired from Jefferson Standard Life Insurance Company.
Mr. McCachren was Elder Emeritus and Charter Member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Hulick McCachren; brother, James R. McCachren of Gainesville, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 in the Morrison Chapel at Covenant Presbyterian Church, with the Reverend Mark Diehl officiating. Burial will be private at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service in the church parlor.
Harry & Bryant Company is serving the family.
