David Moore settled in Newark in the Spring of 1808. His home was located on the northeast corner of the square in Newark, Ohio. A large brick home, now the location of the Midland Theater.
In 1809 David was the postmaster.
David helped establish the Second Presbyterian Church in Newark, Ohio.
The following is a list of the first elders of the Presbyterian Church. James Taylor, 1808; with associate elders David Moore, 1808; Jacob Wilson, 1809.

David served in the War of 1812.
His business was the Mary Ann Furance, built in 1817. It was the first factory in Licking County.
