June Parsons Dana, daughter of the late John Samus & Margaret Ann (Mott) Parsons, grew up on the family homestead at Lake Hickpochee in LaBelle. She graduated from LaBelle High School and later worked alongside her husband, Roy Dana, as a rancher and farmer. She was honored in 1965 as Hendry County Farm Family of the Year and in 1988 as the Swamp Cabbage Pioneer family. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of LaBelle where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the WMU. She was survived by her brother, Woodrow (Bert) Parsons; sons, Rookie (Marion) Dana, Jay (Heidi) Dana; daughter, Frances (Skeet) Colding; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband and her parents, brothers, Joseph, John, Bill, David, Leonard and Broward; sisters, Margarite & Norma, and grandson, Darel Dana. Funeral services at First Baptist Church of LaBelle with Pastor W. T. Maddow, Jr. officiating. Interment at Fort Denaud Cemetery. Arrangements b Akin-Davis Funeral Home. (News-Press, 4/18/2008)
