Memorial services for Corrine Ann Worthington, 88, Grand Island, Nebraska, were Thursday, March 13, 2003, at Peace Lutheran Church with the Rev. William Voelker officiating. She was born February 14, 1915, in Red Oak to Ivan J. and Ruth (Engstrand) Swanson. She grew up and received her education in Red Oak, Iowa, graduating in 1933. She married William Dillon after graduation and they moved to Peoria, Illinois, where she was a housewife. She returned to Red Oak in 1938 and attended cosmetology school in Council Bluffs, Iowa. After graduating, she owned and operated her own beauty salon in downtown Red Oak, and later in her home. She married John Worthington, January 7, 1944, at Rock Port, Missouri. She returned in 1975, and they moved to Texas, living there until 1991 when she moved to Grand Island, Nebraska to be near her daughter. She enjoyed gardening and received the "Yard of the Month" several years in a row. She was a bird watcher, enjoyed reading and traveling. She was a member of Peach Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Worthington, in September of 1997; one brother, Randall Swanson and two great-granddaughters.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Terence and Edith Dillon of Duncanville, Texas; a daughter Deanna Jacobsen of Grand Island, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
