ABBEVILLE - Gene Frederick Ortego, 84, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, in a New Iberia hospital. Mr. Ortego is survived by his wife, Edna Guillet Ortego; two sons, Paul Ortego of Cotton Port and Sheldon Ortego of Nesbit, Miss.; a daughter, Sylvia Jones of Abbeville; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Ortego was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Francis Domico Ortego and a sister, Rosalie Parlier.
Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville is in charge of the arrangements. Interment will follow in St. Paul Cemetery.
