Shamokin Native Dies in Maryland

Miss Mary Rebecca Yeager Claimed by Death in Hagerstown

Miss Mary Rebecca Yeager, member of a pioneer Shamokin family, died yesterday in the home of her brother, Dr. Howard Yeager, Hagerstown, Md., following an illness of several weeks. Miss Yeager, daughter of the late Simon S. and Mahala Yeager, was born in Shamokin and received her education in the local schools. Following the death of
her father in 1938, Miss Yeager took up residence with her brother in Hagerstown where Dr. Yeager is engaged in general medical practice and is an authority on pulmonary ailments for the Maryland Department of Health. He is the only survivor.

The body of Miss Yeager will be brought to Shamokin early Tuesday and will be taken to the Farrow Funeral Parlors where friends may view beginning at noon. Memorial rites will be held in the parlors Tuesday afternoon beginning at 3:00. Rev. T. Max Hall, pastor of the Lincoln Street Methodist Church, in which Miss Yeager was active while a resident here, will be in charge. Burial will be in the family plot in the Summit Baptist Cemetery, Irish Valley.
