Nawatha Letitia Redding, 78, of Concord, California passed away December 3, 1998.

She was born March 5, 1920 in Eufaula, Oklahoma to Edmond and Odessa Krebs.

In 1941, Nawatha received the 4-H Club's National Achievement Award in Homemaking.

As her prize she was awarded a silver flatware service from President Franklin D. Roosevelt as well as a scholarship to Oklahoma A&M College, now Oklahoma State University.

Nawatha began teaching in 1947 at Bay Point School in Port Chicago. Two years later, she transferred to Williams School in Concord, where she spent 21 years.

She completed her career at Sun Terrace Elementary and Mt. View Elementary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, "Tooky" Krebs, and a sister, Lorena Lane.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Wally Redding, of Concord; her sons, Ron Redding of Pleasant Hill, California and Ross Redding of Modesto, California; her daughter, Jacquita Hirschi of Oklahoma; her brother, Joseph E. Krebs of Colorado, and six grandchildren.
