Polly Jean (Schugmann) Coursey, Abingdon Chapel
89 of 372 Knox Road 200N died at 5:22 pm Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at home.
She was born on June 19, 1917 in Galesburg to George S. and Gladys H. Stuart Schugmann. She married A.W. "Bill" Coursey on September 19, 1948 in Abingdon. He preceded her in death on September 28, 2003.
Surviving are one son, George (and Deb) Coursey of RR St. Augustine; two grandsons, Shawn Coursey of RR St. Augustine and Marc (and Kacey) Coursey of RR Good Hope, IL; three great grandchildren; a sister, Gale (and Leo) Munson of Peoria.
She had lived in the Abingdon area all of her life. She graduated from the St. Mary's Academy School in Nauvoo, IL. She was a homemaker and farm wife.
She served in the Army during WW II as a lab technician. She was a member of the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381.
She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. She was a blood donor for the American Red Cross.
Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Sunday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Sunday at the chapel.
