Note: Birth years for MATILDA range in written records from a low of 1818 to a high of 1823. The largest number of records in agreement, five, give her birth date as 4 Feb 1818. Her obituary gives her age at death as 92 which would have made her the twin of her brother ANSON S. Austin. Twins may have run in this line of Austins; at least one of her siblings, brother PHILEMON AUSTIN, had twin daughters.

Daughter of PHILEMON LEE & MATILDA (SEELEY) AUSTIN.

Wife of WILLIAM W. ADAMS. They married some time in 1840 when MATILDA was 17 or 18.

Their known children:

1) David W. Adams (1841-1858)
2) Frances M. Adams Hart (1843-1871)
3) Freeman Eldridge Adams (1844-1930)
4) William Wing Adams (1846-?)
5) Sarah Jane "Jennie" Adams Green Eastman (1848-1919)
6) John Quincy Adams (1850-1929)
7) Herbert H. Adams (1852-1899)
