Funeral services for James S. Morgan, 70, Moscow, were held at the Rochester Methodist church Sept. 11 with the Rev. Wayne Clark officiating. Burial was in the Rochester cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Maurer, Norman McQuillen, Sherman Burns, Bill and Frank Lovell and Ralph Morgan. Mrs. Donald Stiff was organist. Mr. Morgan died in Mercy hospitals, Iowa City, Sept. 7 following a brief illness.
The son of Alfred and Lillian Burr Morgan, he was born near Rochester Jan. 17, 1908 and was educated in the rural schools of Cedar county. He was married to Fern Coss at Muscatine March 7, 1931. A retired construction laborer, he moved to Moscow 6 months ago after having lived in Rock Island, Ill. for 35 years. He was a member of the Rochester Methodist church, Fraternal Order of Elks, Lodge 956 and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 190, Rock Island.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Mrs. William (Katherine) Griffin, Richmond, Va.; Mrs. Frank (Patty) Hora, Nichols and Mrs. Robert (Gloria) Fridley, Long Beach, Calif.; a son, Carroll, Duluth, Minn. Five sisters, Mrs. Max (Viola) Albin, Iowa City; Mrs. Steve (Ruth) Motz and Mrs. Norman McQuillen, both of Tipton; Mrs. Robert (Orpha) Mauer, Moscow and Mrs. Robert (Margaret) Pierce, Rochester. Also 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 daughters and 4 sisters.
