Joseph was the Town Clerk of Huntington, Long Island and the Postmaster of the village of East Northport from 1927-1936, also a justice of the peace in Huntington, he held this office until 1940. He was also on the No. 4 Board of Education at Northport (1933-1943). He served in the Seabees in WW2. In October 1943 he entered the US Navys Construction Battalion as a carpenters mate, he remained in the Navy until July 1945. He was the Master of Alcyone Lodge # 695, ancient Free and Accepted Masons at Northport and a member of the Lions club of East Northport.

Joe died in Sarasota, FL while visiting friends.
