Janie Catherine Steele, 54,was a native of Christian County, KY. She was born Oct. 19, 1955, the daughter of James Jordan, Hopkinsville, and the late Annie Lou Blaine.

She had worked as a spot welder at Johnson Controls for 33 years and was a member of the New Antioch Church of Praise where she headed the kitchen committee, was a Sunday school secretary and member of the choir.

In addition to her father, survivors include her husband, Willie Steele; three sons, Derek Jordan, Indianapolis, Desmond Watkins, Mark Steele, both of Hopkinsville; four daughters, Nekitia Lakes, Rhonda Steele, Angela Brown, all of Hopkinsville, Tanika Thomas, Chandler, Ariz.; six brothers, Robert Jordan, Louisville, Randall Jordan, Charleston, S.C., Phillip Jordan, Indianapolis, Christopher Jordan, Jacksonville, Fla., Patrick and Reggie Jordan, both of Hopkinsville; three sisters, Linda McClellan, Desoto, Texas, Joyce Jordan, Hopkinsville, Stella Elliott, Indianapolis; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services for Janie Catherine Steele, held April 30 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Bacon officiating.
