Gary A. Chase, 56, of Meadowlands, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Minneapolis. He was born April 6, 1944, in Chisholm to Harry L. and Eleanore (Carlson) Chase.

He was a 1962 graduate of Chisholm High School and attended Hibbing Vocational and Technical College. He grew up and lived in Chisholm prior to moving to Meadowlands in 1978.

He was a Navy veteran.

For the past six years he spent summers in Meadowlands and his winters in Arizona. He had worked for Eveleth Mines, the city of Hibbing and most recently for Sinko Sand and Gravel. He enjoyed woodworking, riding his four-wheeler, hunting, fishing, trapping and telling stories. Gary was best known for his sense of humor, his gift of making people laugh, being a hard worker and putting others needs before his own. He was a great father and friend. He will be sadly missed by his family and his numerous close friends.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Barb (Mike) Elijah; son, Terry Chase; and a granddaughter, Allison.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
