Paul P. Anthony, 73, died unexpectedly on Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at his home. He was born July 7, 1926, at the family homestead in Linden Grove Township, near Cook, to Louis and Anna (Smolensky) Anthony.

He grew up there and graduated from the Alango High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving the Army of Occupational Germany Medal. He moved to Hibbing in the late 1960s, and married Nina M. Murdock there on Feb. 18, 1971. He was employed in conservation for the U.S. Forestry Office in Hibbing for nearly 30 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the VFW Post 8510, and American Legion Post 222, all of Hibbing. He had been making his residence in Linden Grove Township near Cook, with his brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Florence Anthony the past five months.

Paul is survived by his brother, Louis (Florence) Anthony; sisters: Mary Jula, Sophie Enzmann, Julia (Eldred) Burtness, and Irene (Archie) Thurman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nina, on Feb. 28, 1996; five brothers, Andrew Fesnick, William, Steve, John and Peter Anthony; and sisters: Ann Boone, Amelia Wien, Ellen Messenger and Eva Yoakum.
