FORMER COUNTY RESIDENT DIES
Van P. Bailey Succumbs at Madison

Van P. Bailey, 77 year old former resident of the Flat Rock community, died Sunday at 9:20 p.m. at Madison after a year's illness. He had been in a serious condition for the past week.
Born in Shelby county on November 24, 1869, he was the son of Nicholas and Mary Ellen (Creed) Bailey. His marriage to Sarah E. Reed took place on December 24, 1888, and she preceded him in death in February 1927.
Three sons and a daughter born to the union survive. They are Mrs. Mary Haus and Frank and Nicholas Bailey, of Indianapolis, and Russell Bailey, of Los Angeles, California. Also surviving are a brother Curtis Bailey, of Indianapolis, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the D. E. Carmony funeral home in St. Paul Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock with Rev. Helen Collins officiating.
Burial will be made in the Union Chapel cemetery south of St. Paul. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7:00 o'clock this evening.
