CAROLYN MCILVAINE WELCH BETTS: 92, dau-ghter of the late, Wilbur Short Welch & Eula (McIlvaine) Welch, made the transition to her next expression on Sunday, 20 Jul 2008. She lived in Pennsylvania for 45 years, in Miami FL for 43 years & her recent years with her cou-sins, Marvin & Jan McIlvaine in Salisbury MD at the Village of Tony Tank Creek. She was a teacher, educator, author & world traveler; Carolyn held a bachelor's degree from Beaver College & a master's degree from Pennsylvania State University. She co-authored the Betts Basic Readers with her husband, Dr Emmett A Betts. She was active in Soroptimist, National Council of Teachers of English, Delta Kappa Gamma International & the Rare Fruit Council International. Having traveled to China three times, Carolyn also visited Japan, Indonesia, Australia, several countries in Central & South America, Africa, Europe, Canada & almost every state in the U.S. Interment was private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contri-butions be made to Coastal Hospice at the Lake-Salisbury MD. Arrangements provided by Short Funeral Services-Milton.
