QUAIL - Virgie Viola French White, 102, died Monday, May 3, 2010, in Clarendon.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Quail Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry White of Amarillo and Cary Don Neeley of Quail officiating. Burial will be in Quail Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington.

Virgie was born Oct. 20, 1907, in Revana, Ark. She grew up in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas, as her family traveled sometimes in a covered wagon to work on farms. At the age of 16, she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and was baptized on the "Texas side of the Red River."

Virgie met M.T. "Boge" White "in the cotton patch." She pulled cotton the day they married, Nov. 2, 1927, in Wellington and went back to pull cotton after the ceremony. Boge and Virgie farmed in Collingsworth and Donley counties for more than 40 years. They moved to Quail after retirement in 1968.

Virgie leaves a legacy of love for her Lord and her family. She was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was a longtime member of Quail Baptist Church. "Safe in the arms of the Lord."

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1973; five brothers, Claude, Henry, Earl, Louie and John French; a sister, Hallie Mae Prater; three sons-in-law, George Keeton, Wendell Gresham and Royce Riggins; and seven great-grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Alvin and wife Rose of McLean and Delbert and wife Avyrillo of Quail; two daughters, Ina Keeton of Amarillo and Patsy Gresham Riggins of Friona; a brother, Cecil French and wife Hazel of Camino, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; a special friend, Cora Hamilton; and a host of other friends.
