Candace Dawne Bates, 18, passed away Monday, May 3, 2010, at University Medical Center in Jackson.

Visitation will be 5pm-8pm today at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Crystal Springs and 10am-11am Thursday, May 6, 2010, at First Baptist Church, Harrisville. Services will be 11am Thursday at First Baptist Church, Harrisville with burial in New Covenant Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Services in Crystal Springs is handling arrangements.

Candace was born in Jackson. She formerly lived in Crystal Springs until moving to Harrisville 4 years ago. She was scheduled to graduate with Honors from Mendenhall High School on May 18 and had been awarded a scholarship to Ole Miss. Her plans were to further her education in pharmacy. She enjoyed cooking, music and playing the guitar. She was loved by everyone and she loved life and lived it to its fullest.

She is survived by father, Kenneth R. Ramsey and step-mother, Charlotte of Crystal Springs; mother, Penny Bates Lawson and step-father, Jonathan of Harrisville; maternal grandparents, Herman and Marty Bates of Harrisville; paternal grandfather, Kenneth A. Ramsey of Crystal Springs; paternal grandmother, Geri Somers and husband Bob of Crystal Springs; paternal great grandmother, Dorothy Thornhill of Crystal Springs; brother, Brandon Jaiye Bates of Harrisville; sister, Stephanie Leigh Parish of Magee; and step-sister, Kristi Kendrick of Crystal Springs.
