JOHN TAYLOR BRADEN

John Taylor Braden was born June 8, 1846, in Belmont county, Ohio and died Feb. 28, 1930, at his home in Chariton, aged 83 years, 8 months and 20 days.

In his childhood he moved to Lee county, Iowa, and moved to Lucas county about 1882, where he has made his home ever since with the exception of a few years in Nebraska.

He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Angeline McBeth, Dec. 31, 1868, in Lee county, Iowa. To this union were born five girls: Mrs. C. F. Swanson, Miss Mary Braden, Mrs. Oscar Lindquist and Mrs. Arthur Umbenhower, all of Chariton and Miss Florence Braden, who died about ten years ago.

There are seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Mr. Braden had six brothers, only one living, Joseph P. Braden of Arcadia, Neb., five having preceding him in death: James, William, Marshall and Albert and one brother who died in infancy.

Mr. Braden united with the Presbyterian church at Sharon, Iowa, when a young man. He was a member of the United Presbyterian church of Chariton until it was disbanded then united with the First Presbyterian church. He was a faithful Christian and a good citizen and leaves behind many friends who rejoice with him in his many years of useful service.

He had been in failing health for over two years and confined to his home for some time.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. Frederick Nichol. Burial was in the Chariton cemetery.
