Major League Baseball Player. Born in Pittsburg, Pennslyvainia, he was a second baseman making his debut for the Boston Red Sox on June 2, 1926. For six seasons, he played with the Boston Red Sox (1926-30), Pittsburg Pirates in 1931 and was the first player in Red Sox history to hit two homeruns in the same inning. He concluded his career with a record of 236 runs scored, 632 hits, 18 homeruns, 292 runs batted in and a .267 batting average. Following his retirement, he worked for the Allegheny County police department for 20 years and served the armed forces during World War II. He died at age 69 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
