Funeral services for John Alfred Melton, 71, were held at 2 p.m. Monday,October 8 at Haley's Grove Baptist Church.
Mr Melton passed away Sunday, October 7 as the result of a second stroke at his home on Lantana Road, after an illness of about 4 years.
A native of Morgan county, the son of the late George and Nancy Thompson Melton, he had made his home in this county most of his life, living and working on his farm at the Center's community until his health failed. His wife, the former Alice Taylor, passed away about 14 years ago. A daughter,Madgie, died in infancy and his son, Archie, passed away in May of this year.
