J. Duane "Whimpy" Roudabush, 69, of Brooklyn, IA, died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, in his home near Brooklyn.
Funeral services for Duane Roudabush were held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 22, 2000, at the Presbyterian Church in Brooklyn. Rev. Ronald Van Heukelom officiated. The organist was Marilyn Kriegel and the soloist was Terry Osborne. Special selections were Amazing Grace, Peace In The Valley and the Marine Hymn. Flower attendants were Agnes Stone, Betty Price, Chuck and Shirley Dunham. Honorary casket bearers were Wesley Reida, Louis Keiser, Sam McNaul, Clarence Rhinehart, and Wayne Patten. Casket bearers were Don Brannian, Daryl Heishman, Maynard Saylor, Gary Kriegel, Steve Kies, and Alan Gralapp. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery with military rites conducted by Francis Gallagher American Legion Post #294.
A memorial fund has been established.

Junior Duane "Whimpy" Roudabush, son of John Franklin Roudabush and Mildred Price Roudabush, was born June 2, 1930, at Brooklyn, IA. He was one of five children.
Duane received his education in Brooklyn graduating from high school in class of 1948. He attended Coe College, Cedar Rapids, for one year
He served with the US Marines during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954.
On April 14, 1956, he was married to Charlotte Mary Graney in Des Moines, Iowa. They became the parents of eight children and grandparents of seventeen grandchildren.
Duane drove a school bus before entering the service. He was a farmer and he and his wife owned and operated Char-Du Mfg. in Brooklyn from 1969 to 1979.
Duane lived all of his life in the Brooklyn area. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Francis Gallagher American Legion Post #294 and the Brooklyn-Victor Country Club where he had served as secretary and treasurer. He managed and coached little league baseball for many years. Duane wrote "Teeing Off With Whimpy" for many years for the local newspapers.
His parents; one daughter, Denise Eileen, and one sister, Dian Roudabush, preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Charlotte; his children and spouses, Debra A. and Bill Orand of Tulsa, OK, Dennis D. and Deirdre Roudabush of Brooklyn, Deanna R. and John Staudt of La Grange, Kentucky, David N. and Janice Roudabush of Brooklyn, Donald P. and Tracy Roudabush of Brooklyn, Diane K. and Kenneth Cadden of Brooklyn, and Daniel C. and Leigh Roudabush of Brooklyn; his step-mother, Mrs. Helen Roudabush of Grinnell; three sisters, Delores McLain, and her husband Roger of Austin, TX, Donna Hepner of St. Louis, MO, and Dorothy Carpenter and her husband, Fred, of Newton, Iowa; and seventeen grandchildren..
