"NORTHPORT - Daisy Faye Dinsmore, 86, of Northport, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at her home. The oldest of 10 children, Faye was born Nov. 5, 1916, in Northport, to Fredrick and Daisy (Nelson) Baumberger. After graduation from Northport High School, Faye was employed as a telephone operator in Northport and as a nanny for children of the Rev. Cermak in East Jordan. On June 3, 1938, she married Milo G. Dinsmore. Together the couple farmed and raised poultry and produce which they sold along delivery routes to Northport Point. Milo preceded Faye in death on Jan. 14, 1970. Following his death, Faye was employed in the dietary department of Leelanau Memorial Hospital for 17 years, retiring at the age of 70. Faye was a member of Trinity Church, served as a former secretary for the Northport Farm Bureau and was a volunteer for the Northport Rescue Squad.

She is survived by her two daughters, Suzanne (Edward) Potoczak of Goetzville, and Donna (Albert) Allington of Suttons Bay; seven grandchildren, Mary Carman of Endicott, N.Y., Stephen Potoczak of Syracuse, N.Y., Martha (Gerald) Weckel of Whitney Point, N.Y., Patricia (Gregory) Shirhall of Richford, N.Y., Aaron (Janice) Allington of Traverse City, Trine (Daniel) Matey of Traverse City, and Nathan Allington of Suttons Bay; and eight great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Joshua Carman of Vestal, N.Y., Marlene, Stephanie and John Potoczak of Syracuse, N.Y., Brianna Weckel of Whitney Point, N.Y., and Nathan and Meghan Nemec of Traverse City; Faye is also survived by five sisters, Mary Firehammer of Niles, Carol (Frank) Hagen of Celina, Ohio, Trudy (Robert) Lewis of Ann Arbor, Sue (Richard) Hanson of Northport, and Martha (Carlyle) Roberts of Northport; one brother, Noel (Marie) Baumberger of Tucson, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Faye was also preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Walter; and her sister, Phyllis.

Friends may call Friday, Dec. 13, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Martinson Funeral Home in Suttons Bay. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Church in Northport, with the Rev. William Belko officiating. Interment will be in Leelanau Township Cemetery in the spring of 2003. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Faye Dinsmore Memorial Scholarship Fund for culinary arts. Arrangements by Martinson Funeral Home, Suttons Bay."
