C.C. Cunningham died at his home at Hawkins Chapel and was buried in the cemetery at the Chapel by the Masonic Lodge of Farmer, Texas, of which he was a worthy member. Several of the Masonic brethren of Graham attended the funeral. He was an old and highly esteemed citizen and he will be greatly missed, not only by his family, but by the entire Farmer community. He was a zealous member of the Methodist Church and a devout Christian. He leaves a wife and five young children to mourn his departure.

There were six children born to C.C. Cunningham and Nancy Wear. One child died in infancy.
