Delores Fleming went to her Heavenly Home at the age of 77, on Monday, April 14, 2008, at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa. She was the 10th of 12 children, born December 18, 1930, to Albert and Luella Mae Gray in Thurman, Iowa.

She attended Thurman schools until her graduation. On August 27, 1949, she was married to James Fleming in the Mission Covenant Church in Shenandoah, Iowa. To this union two sons were born, Michael Lee and Dennis James Fleming.

James and Delores lived in Shenandoah until 1966, when they moved to Oakland, Iowa. Since 1978 they have made their home in Atlantic, Iowa. After graduation she worked at the battery plant in Red Oak. She also worked as a cook for the Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Shenandoah, Oakland Manor in Oakland, and most recently at the HyVee Food Store in Atlantic, preparing food for the bearing plant in Atlantic.

Delores was very involved in the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She served as Department President from 1974 to 1975. At the time of her death she was still an active member of Adair #8877 Auxiliary. She had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Shenandoah.

Delores is survived by her loving husband, James of Atlantic, Iowa; her son Dennis of Treynor, Iowa; her sister, Donna Miller and husband Don of Niceville, Florida; her brother, Don Gray and wife Nancy of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and her sisters-in-law, Billie Fleming of Atlantic, Iowa, & Faye Harold of Council Bluffs, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, very close friends, and Auxiliary sisters.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Luella Gray; her son, Michael in an auto accident at age 21; her sisters, Hazel Parkinson, Gladys Rice, Marjorie Weston, Ruth Stanley and Norma Cook; her brothers, William Gray, Gene Gray, Carl Gray and Ralph Gray; her parents-in-law, Charlie and Opal Fleming; her sisters-in-law, Arlene Edwards, Helen Beck and Eula Putnam; and a brother-in-law, Don Fleming.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, April 18, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. at the Hockenberry Family Care Chapel in Atlantic, Iowa.

Memorials may be made on Delores' behalf to the American Diabetes Association.
