Gladys Louvene Broom, 96, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017 in Bridgeport, TX.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie.
Gladys was born on March 22, 1921 in Post Oak, TX to Ivisson and Tessie (Monks) Riddle. On July 4, 1938 she married Billy K. Broom in Waurika, OK. Gladys worked as a seamstress for Howard Woolf Dress Factory, she liked to sew and making clothes for her grandchildren. Gladys enjoyed sharing her memories of working with her family picking cotton as a young girl. She was an avid gardener and like canning. She was known to many as Pumpkin.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Billy K. Broom, grandchildren Laura Beth Pittman and Karen Andreasen, brothers Hollis Riddle and Forest Riddle, and sisters Mary Riddle and Alma Alexander.
Gladys is survived by her daughter Nelta Andreasen of Bridgeport, grandchildren Stacy Mitchum of Bridgeport, Marilynn Andreasen of Bridgeport, and Michael Andreasen of Argyle, great-grandchildren Angela, Eric, Josh, Keith, Rose, and Melody, great-great-grandchildren Shane, Ashlynn and Laura, and best friends Connie Littlepage of Bridgeport and Vera Belle Lawson of Bowie.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to God’s Table at First Free Will Baptist Church in honor of Gladys.
