Susannah Otto was a daughter of John Otto and Leah Toman. She was born in Mannheim, Waterloo County, Ontario on Jan. 29, 1852.

On December 29, 1868 she married Jonas Knechtel in New Dundee, Ontario at the tender age of 16 years.

After bearing 13 children, she was very active in the German Evangelical Church.

After the death of her husband, Jonas at a very young age of 52 years, Susannah faithfully carried on with her 12 living children.

Susannah passed away in her house at 16 Pine Street on June 04, 1926 in her 74th year. Cause of Death was Apoplexy (Stroke). Death Register #034250.

Many sorrowing friends and rela tives attended the funeral of the late Mrs. Susannah Knechtel, who passed away at her home in Kitchener on Friday, June 4th. The services were conducted by the Revs. S. E. Schrader, J. P. Hauch and O. G. Hallman.

Among the people who attended the funeral from out-of-town were Mrs. Mary Haller, Mrs. Elmina Doll and Mrs. Moses Otto, of Erie, Pa., Mr. and Mrs. Amos Otto and Mr. and Mrs. Owen Otto of Wilmot Centre, Mrs. Wm. Otto, Elmira, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Schmidt, Elmira, Mrs. John Otto, New Hamburg, Mr. and Mrs. Benj. Krupp, New Hamburg.
