William Augustus Dillman served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army during World War I.

He was a son of Albert John Dillman and Ida Grace (Riley) Dillman.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 26, 1911 at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

He first served in Troop K, 14th U.S. Cavalry Regiment at Laredo, Texas from May 27, 1911 to May 26, 1914.

He then served in Troop E, 1st U.S. Cavalry Regiment at Ft. Yellowstone, Wyoming from Jun 1, 1914 to April, 1916.

He then served in Troop H, 3rd U.S. Cavalry Regiment at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas from April, 1916 to September 11, 1917.

He served overseas from November 1, 1917 to June 21, 1919.

He was promoted to the rank of Corporal on August 3, 1916.

He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on July 11, 1917.

He received his discharge from the Army on July 1, 1919 at Camp Devens, Massachusetts.

He was originally from Emmitsburg, Maryland.

He was interred in the Gettysburg National Cemetery on March 10, 1971.
