Birth: Half Moon Valley, Centre county, Pennsylvania.

Census: 1850, age 49 Halfmoon township, Centre county, Pennsylvania with seven month pregnent 42 y/o wife and eleven children.

As a pioneer during the national financial turmoil moved to Territory of Kansas before 1857 Census, before town of Empoia was created, with at least one daughter married in Pennsylvania.

Census: 1857, in Emporia township, Breckenridge county, Territory of Kansas.

Kansas Territory, once known as part of "The Great American Desert", was created 30 May 1854, town of Emporia created in 1858, prohibiting gambling and liquor, same year the 1st school started. Statehood was attained 29 January 1861, Breckenridge county organized in 1855, became Lyon county 6 February 1862 and the Homestaed Act was enacted 20 May 1863 all in the then wild frontier.

Census: 1860, age 60 in Emporia township, Breckenridge county, Territory of Kansas, without wife, with five kids, two of them school teachers.

Census (Kansas): 1865, age 65 in Emporia, Lyon county, Kansas with wife & five kids.

Reportedly on August 2, 1870 wife Louisa, with several others, purchased plots in the one year old Maplewood cemetery.

Death: in Emporia, Lyon county, Kansas

Burial: Recorded as 23 DEC 1867, being before cemetery was named Maplewood. Original marker broken and weathered, replacement installed noting them as Pioneers of 1857.
